The tools they will actually use

An idea canvas, so a thought becomes something you can describe

A pricing sheet, so numbers stop being frightening

A cash book, so they can see where the money went

A one-page plan and a pitch, so they can explain it to an adult

A set of challenge cards drawn from real businesses that really did fail at these things

What gets practised

Talking to people they have never met

Being told no and carrying on

Working out a fair answer to a problem with no obvious one

Making a decision with information that is not complete

Standing up and explaining your own work

What you will take away

They will have built a real business idea and taken it all the way to a pitch

They will understand what profit, cash and price actually mean

They will have practised selling, negotiating and handling a problem in front of other people

They will know that being good at this does not depend on being good at exams

They will leave with something they made, and something they can say they did
